PLAN YOUR STAY
The reason that we love living here is that we feel like we’re living in the middle of nowhere, yet we are only a short drive, walk or cycle from amenities and attractions. The best of both worlds!
Driftways Glamping & Camping is in Pulham Market, which together with Pulham St Mary forms 'The Pulhams', we are almost equidistant between Pulham Market and Long Stratton - both are approximately 3 miles away.
Below are some of our local amenities and attractions, more can be found onsite on the notice board and on VisitNorfolk.
Great walks and cycling
We're less than 300 metres away from Woodland Trust's Tyrells Wood, which has a popular circular route. We're also on Boudicca Way which is a route between Diss and Norwich along the back roads.
Food and drink
Goodies Food Hall and Café is within a mile. They stock fresh local produce and gin! They have a butchery and deli counter as well as a café. To be fair café doesn't do it justice; for those that like cream teas it is not to be missed. Goodies also do a call and collect and delivery service.
We are within 3 miles of a biggish Co-op at Long Stratton, local shops (and post offices) at both of the Pulhams, the community cafe in PSM (Pennoyer Centre) and within 5 miles of Harleston, which has a market bi-weekly and an Adnams Shop, as well as many other shops. Alternatively, major supermarkets are within 11 miles and they do deliver to us here. We're more than happy to help with a delivery.
If you fancy a night off from cooking, then there are two pubs in Pulham Market that both serve food and there are numerous takeaways in Long Stratton that deliver to us as well as a Steak House and other pubs.
Within a couple of miles there is also Cherry Lane Garden Centre, where you can purchase a variety of items from basic camping and house supplies, to food and drink, as well as the usual garden centre items, a café and even animal feed!
Local swimming
If you like to swim there is a private swimming pool, within 2 miles, that can be booked for slots for up to 8 people; please ask if you would like details. There are also pools at Bungay (walk in access and a flume, great for little ones) Norwich and Wymondham and there is even an outdoor pool at Beccles Lido.
There are a few wild swimming places nearby such as Geldeston Loch, previous guests have informed us.
Parks and entertaining children
As well as the on-site space, there are numerous parks locally, the Pulhams have one park each and Harleston has a larger park. If the weather is bad, there is a leisure centre featuring Bananas Soft Play (and a gym) at Long Stratton. There are lots of other soft play centres nearby, having two little ones ourselves, we can certainly give you information on these!
On that note, we can also provide details of the girls' childminder, she is Ofsted-registered, highly recommended and has said that space allowing, she could offer some babysitting if you wanted to go off and enjoy some quieter time. Maybe at one of the local spas.
Local attractions
Norfolk and Suffolk have a host of local attractions including; award winning beaches: Cromer, Southwold, Yarmouth, Horsey (seals), Walberswick (crabbing).
Attractions for kids (and bigger kids in some cases!): Banham Zoo, Africa Alive, Yarmouth Pleasure Beach, Roarr, Pettits, Oasis Camel Park, Bressingham Steam Museum amongst others.
We're also close to the Norfolk Broads and Weybread fishing lakes (and others) if you like the water.
Shopping
We're 14 miles from central Norwich, which has a host of shops, restaurants and there are lots of lovely market towns to explore around us, such as Harleston, Wymondham and Beccles to name a few.
As you can see, we feel very lucky to live where we do and we're delighted to share any local knowledge with you, and who knows maybe you can come back and tell us about some local adventures that we haven't experienced yet!
